The establishment of Zealots in the name of "liberators"

Zealots was said to be a cult founded by Palestinians in the first century, on behalf of leading the country to freedom. At thí time, Palestine was ruled by Roman Empire.

Operational objectives of Zealots is the combination of politics and religion. The organization wanted to "librate the country from Rome", while trying to impose their own strict religion on society.

Why is Zealots a terrorist organization?

Zealots was considered the earliest trained terrorist organization. But why?

That is because of their operation. Zealots started with humane statements yet they were conducting armed guerrilla force, including combat in urban areas, involving many innoncent people just to attain their political and religious objectives.

However, their objectives are not only aimed at the authority, but also at Jews who support the government. The organization considered them as nation traitors, who were not capable to fully aware of ethics and so the common outcome is... exorbitant.

Specifically, Zealots often punished people by using dagger to cut their victims' throat in public places, thereby speading fear in enemy's ranks. Those were acts of terrorist organization.

The strategy of killing in public not only achieved the desire effect of threatening the enemy, but also caused deep psychological impact by creating a sense of vulnerability among the population.

Besides, Zealots expand their range through propaganda. To perform this last strategy, they often carry out attacks against the Romans with many times greater number, demonstrating the willingness to face the enemy despite the danger of extinction.

With the attitude of risking their life against the Roman government, Zealots attracted many people applying to join - just like terrorist organizations today. Zealots supporters thought this is a heroic organization fighting against imperialism, especially in the younger classes.

And the disintegration of the Zealots...

Thhe rebellion of Zealots was then no longer guerrilla attack but became more openly. There was even a time this sect had captured Jerusalem - which is considered mecca of the Jews.

But when they stepped out in the light, Zealots were no match for Roman army - the most powerful army of that time. By the 70s, when surrounded in Masada fortress, all of Zealots leaders committed suicide - marked the end of the first terrorist organization in human history.

However, Zealots has strong influence on many later terrorist organizations. They also use the strategy of sending the feeling of humiliation to the masses, making them participate in indignation, only to recognize the dark side of the organization but can not go back.

Terrorists often use words, photos or videos of murders by them to intimidate, cause panic and terror to social and community in order to archieve political or religious goals.
